SolarSet makes off grid solar Colorado property owners can depend on: complete ground-mount systems assembled and tested in our Center factory, in the San Luis Valley, then shipped ready to connect. Choose off grid for land beyond the grid, hybrid for outage backup, or grid tie to work alongside Xcel Energy, Black Hills Energy or a rural co-op.
Houses, mountain cabins and second homes can run on a whole home solar system set in the yard, leaving the roof untouched and the panels within easy reach.
Solar for agriculture can power ranch houses, barns, farm shops and equipment yards across the Eastern Plains and high valleys such as South Park.
Lodges, shops and storage yards beyond the power lines can make commercial solar systems their long-term power source, while businesses along I-25 and I-70 can use them to keep equipment running through outages.
All seven areas sit inside our free 300-road-mile curbside delivery radius.
Every system is built in Center, so properties from Saguache to San Luis and Antonito, across the valley’s high desert floor, are our shortest deliveries.
Cabins, homes and ranch land from Hesperus and Bayfield up the Animas Valley, where wooded lots at the end of canyon roads can sit far from the nearest power line.
Homes and acreage in Pueblo West, Beulah, Rye and the Arkansas River farm country. At about 4,700 feet, Pueblo sits lower and warmer than Colorado’s mountain valleys.
Second homes, cabins and acreage throughout Archuleta County, from the San Juan River in town to lots near Chimney Rock and Navajo Lake, across Wolf Creek Pass from our factory.
Cabins, homesteads and ranches in Custer County, from Silver Cliff and Rosita to the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Range, including parcels no utility line has reached.
Raw land around Gardner and Redwing, cabins near Cuchara and ranches east of town, all reached from our factory over North La Veta Pass on U.S. 160.
Homes and acreage from Aguilar to Cokedale, Stonewall and the edge of Fishers Peak State Park, where hybrid systems add battery storage for outages and off grid systems power remote parcels.
Distance is one reason. The Colorado Rural Electric Association says the state’s 22 electric co-ops serve about 70% of its land, averaging eight customers per mile of line versus more than 30 for investor-owned utilities. Ask the co-op what a new line would cost before you buy remote land.
Outages are another. Xcel Energy now cuts power in high-risk areas during extreme fire weather. Colorado Public Radio reported that these shutoffs reached nearly 50,000 residents in Boulder, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties on December 17, 2025, and 9,000 customers around Fort Collins and Loveland on January 16, 2026.
Climate shapes the system size. Colorado has the highest mean elevation of any state, about 6,800 feet according to the U.S. Geological Survey, so sunlight passes through less atmosphere. Winters are cold, though: the National Weather Service lists Alamosa’s normal January low at −1.1°F. For most off grid solar Colorado projects, short winter days and loads such as furnace fans and heat tape set the size of the solar panels and battery storage.
Most systems arrive as separate solar panels, racking and electronics, then get assembled piece by piece at the site. SolarSet builds and tests complete solar power systems in our factory instead, so the job at the property shrinks to setting, anchoring and connecting. Share your loads or a year of electric bills, and we will recommend a size and configuration.
Curbside delivery is free inside 300 road miles of Center, we ship across North America, and setting and anchoring are offered in select areas only.
Yes, but the installation needs an electrical permit and inspection from the State Electrical Board or your local building department. Check your county’s zoning and building rules, too.
The difference is the utility connection. Off grid solar systems have none, a hybrid solar system stays grid tied and adds batteries for outages, and a grid tie system runs alongside the utility without batteries.
Yes, with a system big enough to cover daily use on a short, cloudy winter day, since unlike grid systems it has no utility to fall back on. Tell us what you plan to run, and we will size it.
It depends on the property, so SolarSet quotes each project individually. System size, battery storage, configuration and delivery distance from Center all affect the total.
An off grid power system keeps the home running, because it has no utility connection to lose. A hybrid system carries chosen circuits on its batteries until Xcel or the co-op restores power.
Yes. SolarSet ships across North America, with free curbside delivery within 300 road miles of our Center factory. Systems arrive assembled and tested, so only setting, anchoring, connection and inspection remain.
Share the property’s location, whether a power line reaches it and what you need to run through winter. Then Contact SolarSet for a system matched to your land.
